About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Buyer to join us on a maternity contract covering all aspects of buying within our Ready to Wear department.

Our buyers are at the core of our business, developing and delivering commercial and profitable ranges that offer our Hobbs customer a point of difference. Working closely with the design team to develop new product ranges seasonally, our buyers ensure our ranges are delivered on time achieving company KPI’s (in-take, margin and markdown) and partner closely with the merchandising team to drive profits. Our Senior Buyer will anticipate and meet the needs of our global customer on the Ready to Wear department, delivering a well-balanced range in line with our product and overall brand strategy. Working at pace with a strong bias towards action and delivery is key in this role.

Reporting into the Head of Buying and working in tandem with the wider business you will aim to maximise profit and deliver the premium handwriting and high-quality standards we are renowned for at Hobbs. Collectively with our Head of Buying we will need you to develop strong relationships with our suppliers, ensuring season objectives and key dates are clear.

This is an all-encompassing role which will see you coach an Assistant Buyer and BAA, managing a high performing team and offering support in both their day-to-day and the development of their skills.

About You

 We are looking for an individual who possesses extensive experience within a Buyer role with proven commercial success on product areas managed. We would need you to demonstrate seasoned people management experience, managing effectively through a team of direct reports. The ability to easily transition between planning and execution is key as is the ability to remain calm under pressure. We may need you to deputise for the Head of Buying (as required) so strong presentation skills and influencing at multiple levels of a business is crucial for success is this role, as is a naturally collaborative and positive approach.
